Program Supports and Information

Transition Services has become known as a quality provider of employment services throughout Las Vegas and Henderson for our wide variety of jobs and ability to meet the ongoing needs of the individuals we serve. Because we focus on small-business development and real-life skill building, individuals seeking employment services will likely find a place they can try their talents, and find something of great interest to them. Some of the areas people coming into our programs can explore include:

Art & Design
All of our program locations participate in some way in the design, production, and sales of handmade products developed unique to our company, by our in-house artists and staff designers. We focus on teaching people skills ranging from basic paper shredding, gluing, and cutting, to more advanced techniques such as sewing, making paper, and formulating bath and body products. Individuals in these programs work in a team setting where each person is encouraged to participate to their highest potential, making this ideal for people of all ability levels. We encourage people who are interested in connecting with the public to participate in the sales of these products by learning how to run a cash register, set up a craft fair booths, give tours of our community-based location, Studio 8 Ten, and work at special events.

Cleaning & Yard Maintenance
Our Charleston location specializes in the training of individuals wishing to build skills related to indoor and outdoor cleaning services. Individuals who work on our cleaning and yard crews learn specific skills such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, mowing grass, and weeding, as well as social skills related to working with customers at their homes and offices. These crew members also assist with bidding jobs, helping to do marketing, and team-leadership as a “Crew Leader”. Individuals in these programs have the opportunity to make competitive wages, and work independently as well as in a team-based setting.

Animal Care
“Projects 4 Pets” is our newest business venture, and one of the most sought-after areas of interest by our program participants. Our pet care businesses give individuals the opportunity to come in close contact with animals, and learn to provide the attention they need through dog walking, cat sitting, and playtime. Much of the work being done with animals pairs Transition Services individuals with other non-profit companies, building partnerships and friendships throughout the community.

Media Creation
Writing articles, taking photographs, doing research, modeling, selling advertising, distributing copies, and creative directing are all skills explored by the individuals who work on the publication team for Circles Magazine in our Industrial Road location.  Each quarterly issue starts with a focus group where each person pitches their ideas for the next issue.  Every person has the opportunity to work either independantly or with a group on articles that are of interest to them.  Learning new things and exploring the community are essential to the success of the magazine and those who participate in the creation of it.
Enclave Services
Transition Services is currently connected with Bahama Breeze Restaurants, giving some of the individuals in our program the chance to work in the food service industry rolling silverware for restaurant customers.
Follow-Along Services
These services are provided to people who have succeeded in competitive employment in the community but would still like occasional assistance with on-the-job issues. Individuals participating in this area of the company work one-on-one with a Transition Service’s staff who visits them at the workplace and acts as an advocate to address any difficulties the individual is having while at work.
The Senior Program
At our Spring Mountain location, we have founded the senior program to serve people in our existing programs that are aging. It is open to any older person with a developmental disability that is losing interest or is unable to keep working in other programs. Days are scheduled with activities adapted to the individual needs of the program participants. In this program individuals participate in a wide variety of recreational and educational activities ranging from sign language instruction to nutritional education in a fun, social setting.

Individuals participating in all of our employment programs are encouraged to try many jobs and find new interests throughout the company. At any time, we willingly accommodate the desires of individuals to explore different job sites, work teams, and personal areas of interest.
